Novel was founded by Jeanette Morelan, a passionate storyteller, marketing expert, and activist. After studying social entrepreneurship at Belmont University, Jeanette led communications and marketing at World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit founded by Chef José Andrés named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies.
While at WCK, Jeanette was inspired by the way that businesses, nonprofits, and the government worked together to provide comfort to those in crisis. Novel was founded on the belief that social impact is defined by the ability of all three of these sectors to coordinate their efforts and collaborate, not compete, to address society's most pressing issues.
Our hope is that Novel will help businesses to realize their fullest market potential by weaving social value into their operations, will help nonprofits to expand their programmatic impact through strategic local and global partnerships, and will pave the way for additional legislation and public initiatives that support and reward this kind of partnership.
